Our Focus and Mission
UPRYSE is a non-profit organization founded by Christina to improve the lives of youth by helping them learn acceptable forms of self-expression. UPRYSE members perform various plays and skits that deal with life challenges. Members range from ages 10 through 19. In UPRYSE, each youth is also assigned tasks designed to build leadership skills, courage and character. We also travel to perform, using those opportunities for education and leisure.
In addition to training and performances, our youth assist other faith-based and non-faith based organizations in community improvement. This includes feeding the hungry, clothing or food drives, and even using our theatrical performances as a means to help with a positive message.
All of our performers must meet community service requirements. In doing this, they gain a sense of responsibility to something larger than themselves.
